A while ago, the television show Glee, on prime time
television, depicted a gay couple and a heterosexual couple having sex. This
has further nourished the debate on why sex is being portrayed to teens that
see the teens on the show as their peers and have incorporated it into their peer
group. Such experiences, portrayed on the show, have an influence on
the teen audience that learn from their peer group as an alternative to the
others who are around and involved in their lives, but are not in accordance in
age and interests. The producers of the show have defended their production by
stating that this subject of sex should not be taboo and can kindle the sex
talk between teens and parents. However, the article suggests that it is marginalizing
the teens that prefer to stay abstinent and is pressuring teens into sex.
