Afghan Girls Are Penalized for Others
Afghanistan is known for being an extremely religious country that practices many rituals that are unheard of here in America. One of the rituals being practiced even up to today has created much conflict for Afghan families which is the practice of baad. Baad is the form of payment of an injustice made by a family member by kidnapping a girl of the member's family. In this article, Shakila , an Afghan girl was kidnapped with her cousin because one of her uncles ran off with the wife of a district strongman.
By kidnapping Shakila and her cousin, the man got his revenge for being dishonored by his wife and the man who she ran off with. Shakila and her cousin for to conform to the insults, beatings, and other terrible things done to them by the family of the district strongman. Fortunately, both girls were able to escape but were forced to leave their home with their family in order to escape from being terrorized for the escape.
