A RISKY SUBCULTURE


   As we know US has many many different subcultures. We are socialized to know whats inappropriate and whats immoral. We learn to keep our private lives and sex lives to ourselves. But women in the sex industry, such as Jada Fire and Pinky(shown above) are part of a unique subculture that goes against all of these principles as well as most religious values. Both are well known porn stars, who have been having sex on camera for money for many years(atleast 06 for both). But it seems to me that maybe Jada Fire has had a change of heart, for she has now 6 years later decided to retire. The article presents this information saying "'The day has finally come I’m officially retired from porn,” she wrote on her twitter page. “I wanna say thanks to all my fans, I love ya’ll so much. I’m just done shooting scenes. That’s all, it’s ok:)'" Could this be the porn stars superego and ego kicking in? providing her with a sense of greater morality and realism to see that the way shes living is not quite conducive to peace of mind and health? or couldit be tied to the recent rise in STD and STI transmittion in the industry, and even the recent HIV scares and rumors that have been floating around? Porn star Pinky was just recently a victim of a vicious HIV rumor which implied that not only has she contracted the virus but that through her scenes she has potentially spread it to the many men she works with. To this she responded by saying "'“Ya’ll say anything for some attention. Sad something so negative would trend smh.'" Hurt by the words,Pinky has been on a torrent speaking up about she has started using condoms in all her scenes following the health scares tredning in the industry and she insists that she is HIV Negative. This is just one example of how socialization and subcultures often clash creating a swirl of confusion and in a lot of cases hurt on the basis of accusation.
