Dead Peasant Insurance Policy

After viewing the documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story”, I realize how cruel capitalism is. I had never imagined how injustice politics were in my own country, when all along I was being taught that communism was the worst thing in the world. In this documentary they mentioned a case about a widow named Irma Johnson who lost her husband Daniel Johnson, because of brain cancer. Not only did she lose the love of her life, but she also lost the right to his insurance policy money. This was all occurring, because her husband’s former employer had claimed himself as the beneficiary of the insurance policy or as he would refer to it “dead peasant insurance policy”. The sum of money the employer received was of $1.6 million. Of course Irma was never aware of this fraud, until she was notified through a letter about the situation. Once Irma was aware of what this cruel employer was doing, “the postal services triggered the lawsuit by misdirecting the check made out to Amegy Bank, her husband’s former employer”; according to the article “Peasant Uprising: Widow Sues Late Husband’s Employer Over “Dead Peasant” Insurance Policy”, published by Jonathan Turley.
