Devastating Time for Syria

For some time now, the city of Homs located in Syria has been tormented by snipers and enclosed by soldiers. The government has killed hundreds of people and recently have destroyed clinics and the homes of many citizens. Due to these horrible events, society and the lives of many Syrian citizens have drastically changed. These people have had to adapt to different social interactions. For example, children can no longer attend school, doctors are forced to make secretive night rounds. Daily necessities are difficult to acquire and it is becoming complicated to survive with the limited amount of money and resources they have at home. Its hard enough for these people to obtain essentials and on top of that most people know nothing of their close relatives. "I haven't seen my mother for a month and a half even though she lives about seven or eight kilometers away," Omar said.
I feel that many people are unaware of the hardships others in different countries are facing. There is the thing, out of sight out of mind which means that you see something like what is occurring in Syria and acknowledge that it is unfair and cruel but after a while you forget it because it is out of sight. Unfortunately the people in Syria are tormented every day and will never forget it unless we do something to help.
"The simple act of opening your door could be the last thing you do in your life," said Dima Moussa, .
We should open our eyes and be more aware of what is happening around the world, not just in our country.
