Ninety two years ago, a paramilitary force named Black and Tan terrorized the Irish people, leaving horrifying memories with them. Recently, Nike released a shoe named Black and Tan representing the American version of the Irish drink; the Guinness which is a drink made of half stout and half lager. However, the Irish feel insulted and refuse to purchase such an “offensive” product but it was an unintentional offense on behalf of the Nike company. They were just trying to represent an American drink; never intended to discriminate against the Irish.
I actually find nothing wrong with these shoes. The name makes perfect sense to me, considering the colors. It makes sense how the Irish would think such a thing though, but Nike was sorry for the unintended offense and made it clear that it was not their intentions. I am not Irish and I do not feel what they feel but I personally think they should let this go, especially because Black and Tan is being referred to a Half and Half drink.
