Former Marine Sentenced to Prison

Soldiers have a very high prestige in America. They are viewed as heroes who day after day risk their lives for this country. However, not all of them are heroes instead some are deviants. A former U.S. Marine was sentenced to 29 years in prison for the murder of another Marine in San Clemente.  Christian William Carney killed Stephen Serrano over a drug money dispute in 2008. Carney had sold cocaine and ecstasy at Camp Pendleton. When Carney was away from the base, Serrano and another Marine stole Carney’s drug money. Carney would later find out that Serrano was the one who had stolen his drug money. After, prosecutors stated that Carney and another Marine, Alvin Reed Lovely, took Serrano to a secluded area and shot Serrano multiple times. Two days after the homicide, a jogger found the body of Serrano. Though Carney has already been sentenced, Lovely is awaiting trial for the murder charges he’s facing.
