Hurting Haiti

Three Pakistani police officers were accused of sex exploitation and abuse of a fourteen year old Haitian Boy. The officers were serving in a U.N. police mission in Haiti which led to the scene of the crime that was committed. The Pakistani police officers were found guilty in a court-martial proceeding put together by Pakistani authorities in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Pakistani officials were aware of what occurred and reported to Haitian officials, "the guilty parties will be punished, including dishonorable discharge from service, loss of benefits and imprisonment, with the latter sentence to be served immediately on return to Pakistan." Unfortunately, the three were sentenced to only year in jail. They were sent back to Pakistan and are being ensured by the Pakistan officials and the U.N. that the three are following the procedures. This article was centered in this post because Chapter 9 involves the many races in the world. There is also a chart displaying the attitude towards immigrant groups in the United States. Sadly, Haiti was shown to cause more problems than benefits for the U.S.
