278 Years to Pay Bill

A couple was visiting Vancouver from Australia when the mother-to-be gave birth to her daughter eleven weeks before she was actually supposed to be born. Due to her early arrival, she needed assistance to breathe and meticulous care, so she stayed in the neonatal intensive care unit. The parents of the baby believed that their travel insurance covered unexpected circumstances related to pregnancy, but they were mistaken. To their surprise, the travel insurance “did not cover live birth” and the parents were made responsible for a bill worth around one million dollars. The premature baby had to stay in the neonatal intensive care unit for three months, with a total charge of eight thousand dollars per day. That is insane!
Even though, this couple was left with an exorbitant bill, they did not resent it. They are happy parents who appreciated their daughter’s well being. They mentioned that you cannot put a price on this type of situation. They would do anything for their baby just like anyone else would. Family is obviously always important; there can never be a price.
