According to the article Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa
experienced an act of prejudice, racism, and discrimination by a man named Davi
Rodrigues. As the Mayor was leaving the state capitol someone from the crowd
disrespected him by telling him to return back to his country, Mexico. The
man’s behavior was due to the fact that the mayor is always defending illegal
immigrants. Davi was upset when he found out that an illegal immigrant had
murdered the son of a friend. It is apparent that the man was furious and held
a sense of hatred towards the mayor. I personally believe that no one should be
disrespected in any way or form. We all deserve to be treated respectfully no
matter what race or ethnicity we come from. In today’s ever-increasing
population people find it simple to judge others based on appearance and social
class. But honestly, people need to learn to be much more respectful towards
others.
