Sexism in Society
On March 21, 2012 an article was published by Rob Cooper about a rugby team from the university of East Anglia acting inappropriate at a party. The players dressed up as promiscuous females, the Ku Klux Klan, priests, and Joseph Kony because they thought it would be funny. As a result of their poor decisions they have now been banned from the rugby team for eighteen months. Direct institutionalized discrimination is present in this situation because these guys decided together to go out dressed in a way that is offensive to many different kinds of people. The rugby team was acting prejudice towards certain racial groups by dressing up as the KKK. A stereotype that most women are promiscuous is seen by the fact that some of the men wore skimpy dresses and make-up. The stereotype about women that the men displayed the night they went out to party is considered sexist. It is unfortunate that racism and sexism exist today, even if it is just a "joke".
