Brooklyn Babylon is an intense movie about totally opposite cultures clashing in Brooklyn, New York. One culture is the Jewish Lubavitch culture that is extremely strict and only reserve to themselves. The other different culture in the movie is the West Indian Rastafarian culture.
The story starts out that a Jewish girl named Sara is engaged to be married to another Jewish guy named Judah but she's struggling personally because she wants to become independent and go to college. The other main character is Solomon, a Rastafarian man who's a hip hop songwriter, artist, and musician.
Sol has a hustler friend named Scratch who crashes into Sara's fiancee Judah's car and that's when the two of them meet. However, conflict and tensions run extremely high because both Judah and Scratch carry misconceptions about each other. They believe in stereotypes about each other and start committing acts of hate crime against each other by lighting a car and a club on fire.
Sara and Sol's friendship soon becomes into a relationship which is dangerous. The story reflects on the story of Sheba and Solomon which is exactly how Sara and Sol become . In the end, love triumphs all and show that prejudice does not matter at all.
