Family of a Hate Crime Victim

Four days after the September 9, 2001, a Pakistani immigrant was shot and killed by a white supremacist named Mark Stroman. He believed the Pakistani immigrant was Arab and, therefore, shot him in the head at the convenience store that the Pakistani immigrant had just opened that year. Mark Stroman followed to commit several shootings as revenge for the terrorist attacks of September 9, 2001. The family of the Pakistani immigrant was at risk of being deported, but with much help they were able to attain permanent residency and have recently become U.S. Citizens. The hate crimes committed by Mark Stroman did not stop this family from pursuing their dream. Ultimately the one who was most affected by the hate crimes was Mark Stroman. He was executed in 2011.
It is unbelievable that individuals, like Mark Stroman, can decide to take matters into their own hands and destroy the lives of innocent people just because they share the same race as others. The United States encourages assimilation, but not everyone can have the same belief and perception of equality because there are so many differences amongst individuals. We can only hope that over time inequality will diminish.
