Serve and Protect Much?

A few days ago, the FBI arrested a sergeant and three police officers who were accused of abusing and discriminating Latinos in East Haven, Connecticut. Police officers do not have enough power to do such racial actions. They are suppose to be there as part of the society to serve and protect, not to discriminate and intimidate. What type of norms do these police officers have? Illegal searches, threats, and false arrests were some of the actions these officers took against Latinos.

To top it all off, the Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. said an offensive comment when he was asked what he would do for the Latino community. His response was, “I might have tacos when I go home, I’m not quite sure yet.” What is that suppose to mean? The situation was already crucial enough for him to say such a blur comment. How do the Latinos in East Haven feel? Possibly, like a discriminated minority because not only were they being discriminated by police officers, the Mayor says the wrong words showing no literal support for his Latino community. Outrageous!
