Marines video and the ugly impulse of revenge

On Tuesday, January 17, 2012, an article came out on CNN about a group of U.S Marines urinating on dead Taliban soldiers. This story was instantly noticed by people all over the world and it greatly shocked many individuals. Many people were outraged at the lack of respect that these Marines had for the deceased and the way that they displayed their responsibilities over seas. Our Marines are there to serve and protect our country but when this type of behavior is exerted, it makes Americans think twice about the way we are being portrayed to others.


These U.S Marines give off a sense of ethnocentrism and show others that American citizens are arrogant and disrespectful to other cultures. The symbol of their actions are very offensive to other countries but also offend other soldiers in the U.S Military and to the citizens of the United States. The gestures that these Marines gave were disrespectful, insulting, and very displeasing.
