Brazil buildings collapse and death roll increases

On January 25, 2012  three buildings collapsed in the historic center of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and unfortunately the death toll continues to increase. To start off, there are no immediate reasons as to why this historic center collapsed. It was assumed that there was a possibility of a gas leak, or it could have been the way the building was structured. As far as the death rate, on Wednesday night, it was reported that about twenty people were still missing, however most know deep down, that there are not many survivors. "Although the culture of the fire department is driven by hope, motivation, given the scenario that we're checking, and time passed since the accident, I must say that we do not work with the possibility of more survivors," said Simoes, according to Agencia Brasil.
This is really is a devastating time for Brazil. It is a problem for all the citizens, Brazil is seeing this as a macro issue and  definitely trying to find a way to fix this situation. Not only is it difficult to cope with the death of many beloved citizens, but it is also clashing with the values of Rio. Rio de Janeiro was and is preparing to host the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games which comes two years after. The collapse of this historic center and the increased  number of deaths  is truly difficult to deal with.
