This week, President Barack Obama gave his State of the Union address which mainly concerned about the current economic state of the U.S. as well as many other issues America is facing currently.
One of the biggest concerns about the economy is how part of the population is jobless while a small portion is making so much money meaning that no one is abiding to the same rules. Obama said ," that hard work can allow one to own a home and support a family are at risk if the government doesn't do more to balance the scale between the nation's rich and poor." Many believe the government is NOT doing it's own fair share of leveling out the current economic situation.
Another issue Obama talked about was education . He believes that states should mandate laws that will make sure that minors stay in school until they graduate or turn 18. While on the subject of education, he wants colleges and universities to stop rising tuition costs as well as have Congress pass measures that will allow for more student aid. He stated ," Higher education can't be a luxury--it's an economic imperative that every family in America should be able to afford."
Obama hopes that all of these things can be put in place to preserve the basic American values of being able to succeed in life.
