Family Planning and Religious Institutions

On April 3, 2012 an article entitled "These are family values?" was posted by Mike Sheridan addressing the concerns about religious institutions having to pay for family planning coverage. Many people are worried that Obama's care policy is forcing religious organizations to offer insurance coverage for family planning. Sheridan argues that the money being spent on family planning, such as contraceptives, is earned by employees. The money employees spend on family planning is their money; it is not coming out of any religious organizations pockets. This does not mean that employees have to spend money on family planning, but if they want to then the option is available to them. Investing money in to family planning has been shown to decrease the amount of abortions, diseases, and unwanted pregnancies. Not allowing employees to have family planning coverage allows more room for health risks. Sheridan argues that conservatives care about these unborn children until they come out of the womb. He backs this argument up by saying conservatives then tax unfairly and promote unfair pay outs to people who are not in need of them. Offering family planning insurance to employees of religious institutions can be beneficial to the world because it can lower the fertility rate.
