On Thursday April 5, 2012 an article posted by confirms the recent rumor of a shooting that occurred in Oakland, California. On Monday April 2, 2012 One L. Goh, a 43 year old South Korean native, confessed to kidnapping a woman and firing several bullets at people before escaping the scene using one of the victims vehicles. Panic was the initial reaction to the shootings at school, but police were quick to resolve the issue. The reactions of all the witnesses and people involved in the event would be labeled as collective behavior, because everyone reacted to the same stimuli in a spontaneous and unstructured manner. The shooter was a former nursing student at Oikos University until he decided to leave the school in November of last year. Goh claims he went back to the school to get some of the tuition money he had paid for his schooling back. When he was unable to find one of the employees, he started shooting students and a secretary. Tragic events, such as school shootings, can have a very negative effect on individuals perceptions of society and have led to a great deal of social change.
